HIVsport is delighted to announce the launch of a brand new web site, www.hivsport.org providing us with a new look and up to date information. Please note the new URL where we will now be based. This site is just the start of an ongoing programme designed to bring information about HIV and AIDS to the world of sport. Of particular interest will be the definite guide to ?Sport, HIV and AIDS - the facts’. This short information leaflet provides all the essentials anyone involved in sport, whether as player, coach or administrator will need to know about the real risks of HIV in a sporting context.

We would also like to take this opportunity to introduce Dr David Hawkins as a new Director of HIVsport. As one of the leading international clinical experts on HIV and AIDS, Dr Hawkins has helped to write and has approved our guide so you can be sure that it is both accurate and up to date. David has also recently written an article, ?HIV and the Athlete’, which will appear in the forthcoming ?Encyclopedia of Sports Medicine’. You can find out more about Dr Hawkins and the rest of the HIVsport team on the web site.

If you would like to use our guide to Sport, HIV and AIDS it is free to download from the site. Feel free to use it in your own publications or on your own web site. Just send us an email to let us know and acknowledge HIVsport as the originating source.

As we move towards the World Cup in South Africa next summer we will be bringing you news from that country and providing everyone who is travelling there with the best and most relevant information to ensure your trip is enjoyable and safe.

If you would like any further information about HIV, AIDS or other sexual health related matters please contact us at board@hivsport.org and we will endeavour to get back to you as soon as possible. Please note that HIVsport can provide education, training and other services on request. Andy Harvey, Director
