Barry McGuigan’s new signing, Troy James gets on-board with the learning agenda.

Barry’s new signing Troy James has enrolled for a Sports Science degree at Loughborough College to coincide with turning professional as a boxer. Barry has always been an impressive advocate for boxers to enhance their chances outside of the ring when the time comes for them to hang up their gloves, either through natural retirement or should they get injured and impressed upon Troy that he should do the same. Troy himself is looking forward to the academic challenges that lay ahead, saying. "Barry encouraged me 100% to do a course that would support me and my family and enrolling for the programme is really exciting and will fill my spare time outside of training. It’s a great opportunity for myself and my family and I’m greatful to Barry for him guiding me in this direction". Troy’s next fight is in Liverpool on Friday 12th June 2009.
