Lucy Speaks Out!

The British Grooms Association (BGA) was proud to take centre stage at the recent National Equine Forum, held at the Royal Society in London. This annual event sees the most influential individuals in the equine industry meet to discuss the latest topics. Lucy Katan, BGA Executive Director, took the opportunity to update the Forum about the recent work of the BGA and its development since launch in May 2007. “We have achieved so much in such a short space of time,” she explained, “but we still have a mountain to climb before we can be confident that we have made a real difference to the working conditions for grooms in the equestrian industry. To speak at the National Equine Forum was not only an honour but also an excellent opportunity to once again raise the concerns and issues that grooms are facing in the UK.” The BGA is a Social Enterprise which has been created to offer a voice for all grooms and to provide support for employers. It was initially founded due to support from UnLtd (The Foundation for Social Entrepreneurs) and has been subsequently supported by a group of key equestrian sponsors and its 700+ membership. The BGA is the only Professional Membership Association for equine grooms in the world. For more information visit www.britishgrooms.org.uk
