Following a number of meetings and a period of consultation, it has been agreed to go ahead with the restructure of the Institute. IFMA as an umbrella organisation remains the same. It has charitable trust status and its rules still control its constituent associations.
From 1st August 2007, however, the Technical & Development Staffs Association (TDSA) will become the Professional Football Coaches Association (PFCA). The reason for the change is to more readily reflect the status and position of professional coaches within the Premier League and Football League.
The PFCA are delighted to coincide this re-launch with the announcement of a 3 year commercial partnership with match analysis company ProZone. The Football Administrators Association (FAA) will combine with the Commercial & Marketing Managers Association (CMMA) to form the Professional Football Administrators Association (PFAA).
The amalgamation of the FAA & CMMA is designed to reflect the changes in the Commercial, Marketing and Administrative departments within clubs and the immergence into football of Chief Executives, Financial Directors, and Database Managers etc. It is hoped that the new body will be seen as being more relevant for those working within the professional game. Aon have extended their sponsorship agreement to include the PFAA.
As we as the range of courses available via the Educational Sports Forum, IFMA also sponsor The Certificate of Football Management & Administration, delivered by Southampton Solent University, now in its eighth year. The course is equivalent to a first year of a business degree with credits earned being transferable to other educational courses. It is in a modular format comprising the following subjects; HRM and Company Administration for Sport, Sport and the Law, ICT for Sport, Sports Finance, Sport and the Media and Football Management & Administration.
The Certificate is completed over a two year period with three units of two days duration each year, plus an element of distance learning. There are vacancies on the course which re-starts in October. For further information, contact Graham Mackrell at graham.mackrell@lmasecure.com or on 07836 544366.
