Katherine Gillard, Director of the OCNOTC, Credit for Learning, gets behind the ESF


Alan Irwin, Secretary of the ESF said, "This is a very progressive and positive development for the ESF. The support of the Open College Network OCT, will be invaluable to the ESF. Essentially, we will have first hand expert advice and guidance when developing and accrediting customised ESF courses".

The OCNOTC / credit4learning team is led by Katherine Gillard who brings extensive commercial experience to workforce development gained as a successful employer within the Textile/Manufacturing Industry and through her wide ranging experience in Education and Training in both the private and public sectors since the early 1990’s.

She comes previously from a national strategic post with the Learning and Skills Development Agency, where she had a National Advisory post working on the 14-16 & 14-19 Vocational learning, Entry 2 Employment Programmes as well as a national remit for Employer Engagement and Partnership working.

Katherine’s contribution to national policy and initiatives has meant that she has worked extensively with a wide range of Government and Regulatory bodies including the DfES, QCA, LSC, LSN, Trade Unions, sector bodies and all of the largest awarding bodies in the UK. Katherine has also carried out national research for the LSDA on securing quality in employer engagement for FE and research for LSC on the application of credit for Work Based Learning.

Katherine is responsible for leading the planning of strategic developments in the organisation, the OCNOTC team and managing the development, coordination, operation and financial affairs of the organisation. Katherine represents OCNOTC on external bodies and maintains and raises its local, regional and national profile. She also provides strategic guidance to approved centres on the implication of directives from external agencies.
