Accessibility Statement
ESF is committed to providing its service to the maximum number of visitors, including visitors who have disabilities. We have provided a number of utilities to broaden accessibility of the site including:
Access Keys
Access keys are a way of navigating a web site via a browser without using a mouse. This is achieved by means of a combination of keys and allows visitors with limited dexterity the ability to still use the site and obtain access to the information contained here. For a complete list of access keys in use on this site visit our access keys page.
Text Sizes
The text on this site can be altered to one of three different sizes via the links at the very top left of every page. The system generates a non-identifying cookie to maintain the chosen setting.
Images
ESF uses a number of images throughout the site as part of the design. Wherever possible, any image which has relevance to the site content also uses alt-text with context-specific text to allow for identification in text-only browsers.
Text Links
Wherever possible we have included descriptive text on text links which appear when the cursor is placed over them, this also assists visitors who use text-only browsers as it helps place the text link into context.
Testing
ESF has an ongoing program of testing, providing access to all areas of the site to a panel of disabled people to establish a healthy balance between accessibility and good design for able-bodied visitors.
ESF is tested in most of the main browsers, including Internet Explorer (version 6 under Windows 2000 and version 7 under Windows XP and Vista), Firefox (version 2 under Windows and Mac OSX), Safari (Mac OSX) and Konqueror (Linux). We also use a text-only browser via the server to see the site as a search engine would as part of the development and testing phase.
If you have any issues concerning the visibility or usability of this site, please use our feedback form in the first instance making a note of the specific page(s) and browser being used.
